The contributions received by the Foundation are disbursed, as determined by the Board of Directors or other committee of the Foundation to Optometrists and their family members, that have been impacted by catastrophic events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, etc. or from health related events such as death, cancer, stroke, etc.  All Optometrists, who are duly licensed by their respective State agency, are qualified for grants by the Foundation and such Optometrists need not have a direct or indirect affiliation with Vision Source.

The Foundation may also provide grants to optometry schools to further their education of optometry students provided that the particular grant request is from a 501(c)(3) organization.  The types of grant requests that might be considered from optometry schools could be for building expansions, professorships, scholarships, etc.
