The Licorice Project is a social enterprise with a simple, yet mighty mission: to change the breast cancer experience! We focus on the emotional, social, and practical aspects of the breast cancer journey from the time of initial diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship. Our goal is to connect people locally, share resources, and make it easier to give and receive help.  We also hope to spread unexpected joy along the way.

Connect: The Licorice Project is creating local communities that include patients, survivors, and the families and friends who support them. The communities provide online support, and also offer the opportunity for people to connect offline. We know how important it is to find someone who has "been there, done that."

Share: We curate and share helpful, inspirational, hopeful, and even funny resources via our website, social media, the TLP Newsletter, and local in-person gatherings. We save people time and energy by doing the legwork for them.

Help: We give ideas and suggestions for ways to help someone going through treatment. This makes it easier on the patients and their families who often aren't sure what type of help they need. Everyone benefits!

Our name, “The Licorice Project”, stems from our tradition of handing out treats to participants in the 3-day breast cancer walks. This gesture invariably brought a smile to people’s faces, and our hope is that The Licorice Project will do the same. To that end, we think of licorice as a symbol of something one can do to brighten another person’s day and our goal is to offer unexpected treats  (both real and intangible) and encourage others to do the same. Together, we can change the breast cancer experience!
