i.c.stars is a workforce development organization and a social enterprise built in Chicago. We find talent, train talent, and put talent to work. We develop change-driven individuals to excel in technology careers and effect change as community leaders.

Some young adults already have what it takes to excel in technology careers AND to play leadership roles in their communities. How do we know this? We discovered that the qualities that lead to excellence in technology services are closely linked to those associated with community leadership—these qualities share a “common DNA” that comes exclusively from overcoming adversity.

i.c.stars unlocks this DNA through a 4 month internship program, a 1 year residency, and a 1 year fellowship.

Upon completion of the program, individuals have a combined 6,000 hours of work experience, an Associates Degree, and Community Service.

We currently have capacity for 60 people per year.  Every quarter, we screen 400 candidates to hire 15 individuals into our program. The program spans 2 years and requires a demanding 60-70 hours per week.

i.c.stars is organized as a 501(c)3 charitable organization that pursues earned income business opportunities that further its mission. This Social Enterprise model is the key for growing the organization to serve more individuals and increase its impact.
