During the team’s inaugural season in 2007, the Slaughter recorded an impressive overall record of 10-4. After going 9-3 in the regular season, the Slaughter went 1-1 in reaching the Divisional Semi-Finals in the league playoffs. The 2008 season saw the Slaughter suffer a slow start, going 2-3 in their first 5 games.  However, the Slaughter rallied around head Coach Steve McMichael and managed to win 6 out of their next 7 games to finish the regular season at 8-4 and win the Western Division title.  Unfortunately, the Slaughter then suffered a 1st round playoff loss to divisional rival, Rock River, to end their season.   2009 proved that the 3rd time truly is a charm.  In only it’s third season in existence, The Chicago Slaughter went 14-0 and captured their first CIFL Championship trophy in a truly historic season.  Led by CIFL League MVP Quarterback Russ Michna, The Chicago Slaughter averaged over 65 points per game and outscored their opponents by almost an average of 30 points per game.   The Slaughter defeated the Fort Wayne Freedom in the championship game, by a score of 58-48.  The offense was led by other major contributors such as Wide Receivers Bobby Sippio (former KC Chief), Donovan Morgan (2008 AFL Rookie of the year), “Big Play” Reggie Gray, Dontrell Jackson, Kicker Chris Nendick (NIU record setting place kicker) & and a tremendous offensive line. The defense was led by players like DeJuan Alfonzo (former AFL Ironman winner), Khreem Smith, Dennison Robinson (2008 AFL Defensive MVP) , Lenny Radtke & many more.  Many Slaughter players set CIFL individual records during the 2009 season, and multiple team records were set as well.   2010 saw the Slaughter make some incredible off season moves.  The Slaughter joined the Indoor Football League, which has teams in over 25 cities nationwide.  While much of the roster was being turned over, the Slaughter signed 2 of the most legendary names in sports -- Payton and McMahon.  On January 7th, 2010, Jarrett Payton signed with the Chicago Slaughter.  Jarrett is the son of arguably the greatest football player to ever live, Walter Payton.  In late February 2010, the Slaughter added another legendary NFL and Chicago Bear name to the mix, when Jim McMahon became an owner.  The addition of McMahon and Payton created the Chicago Bear trifecta and vaulted the Slaughter into the media spotlight and significantly increased attendance.  The Slaughter battled through the season and secured a wildcard spot in the playoffs with a 6-8 record.  In the first round of playoffs, the Slaughter upset the number one team in their division, the Green Bay Blizzard, 46-39.  The season ended for the Slaughter in the Conference Semi-Finals with a 47-33 loss to the Sioux Falls Storm.
