The CCAC is a public-private partnership between a non-profit agency and the public agencies in Chicago responsible for responding to reports of child abuse. The CCAC opened in 2001 and serves as a central location for intake, investigation and follow-up for victims of sexual abuse and assault, ages 0-17, and severe physical abuse, ages 0-3, in Chicago.The CCAC starts with the principle that no one agency or professional alone can prevent and treat the problem of child abuse and assault – a multidisciplinary and community response is necessary. Children receive coordinated services from the legal, medical, child protective, law enforcement, social service and mental health professionals who are co-housed at the Center.
