Barrington Youth & Family Services was formed to meet the social, psychological and emotional needs of Barrington area youth and their families by providing a comprehensive array of counseling, prevention and outreach programs. BYFS believes that by building healthier, more stable families, we build healthier communities.

 Barrington Youth & Family Services (BYFS) is a 501(c)(3), community-based social service agency established in 1972.  Services are provided to residents that live in portions of Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties and the townships of Barrington, Cuba, Dundee and Ela, all within the boundaries of Barrington Community Unit School District 220. BYFS collaborates with local government, schools and community leaders to design programs that address the specific issues and needs of Barrington area families, as well as continually assess their effectiveness. This collaboration also allows the agency to identify and respond to new issues as they emerge.

 More than one-half of the families we serve are considered low-income and our services are provided on a sliding fee scale for those who cannot afford standard rates.  No one is denied access to BYFS programming due to an inability to pay.  The agency recognizes that services are often needed on an immediate basis and strives to avoid placing anyone on a waiting list.
