Ava’s Heart is a California-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Since our work began in 2011, more than 175 families have been helped by Ava’s Heart in a myriad of ways.  Ava’s Heart provides critically needed assistance to transplant patients and their families who could otherwise not receive treatment and care. There are more than 122,000 people desperately waiting for lifesaving organ transplants in the United States. Of those waiting, only 35,000 actually received transplants in 2016.  Twenty-two people die each day waiting for organs. The patients served through Ava’s Heart services typically would be excluded from the transplant waiting list because of being low income, along with their limited understanding of how to search for community resources.
