Established by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) in 1963, AVMF is based in its national headquarters in northwest suburban Chicago. The AVMA, founded in 1863, is one of the oldest and largest veterinary medical organizations in the world, with more than 80,000 current members.

As a nonprofit organization, AVMF relies on the generosity of the animal lover and veterinary communities.Animal Lovers: Animal emergencies are human emergencies. In the event of a disaster, we want you and your pet to get out safely.
